Westbank Transfer 6, Week 4, Dec 9, 2013

So this week was pretty slow, not much going on. Hopefully that will change soon. We haven't found a new investigator since I got here, which is kinda a problem. So we are working on that. Actually, we've been working on it, so we are going to keep working on it. Hopefully we can solve it this week.
As I ended my email with last week, we have finally gotten some snow. It's really pretty, just super cold to tract in. The coldest it has gotten so far is -16 Celsius, which is one degree colder than the average temperature it gets here in the winter. Everyone keeps telling us that this year is colder than normal, which is not very exciting. Though one member told us the other night that it is supposed to warm up to 0 this week, which would be great. I don't mind the cold too much... But after a couple of hours, you start to lose feeling in your fingers and toes, and it is a little hard to walk. :)
R is doing well, even if she is really stressed. She still hasn't been able to find roommates, which is a problem. But on the other hand, she had a blessing saying she would find the right roommates, and that she would have the gift of discernment. And as people have come to look at the room, she has recognized the Holy Ghost prompting her, which is amazing! She is really excited to be baptized, she just has to have her surgery, recover, and come to church one more time. She really wants this, and it can't happen soon enough. Her doctors think her tumor might be acting up again, and they are super worried about her. They've even planned her funeral. Bleh.
I also met a former named N who we started teaching again. She is very interesting. She says she believes Joseph Smith is a prophet and that the Book of Mormon is true (even though she won't read it... she says she likes to use it as a reference book, which means she will read it with us and if we text her a verse, so that is what we are doing right now), but she believes that Joseph Smith dreamed the First Vision and it wasn't real. Huh. She says it's because the Bible says no man can see God (it actually says no wicked man, per Joseph Smith) and also, because Christianity was so prevalent and everyone knew who Christ was, why would God have to introduce Christ to Joseph? That last one is actually very smart. But beside the point. She did come to church yesterday, so who knows? The Spirit can work miracles. Isn't it great?
I love you all!
Sister Peterson
