Westbank, Transfer 6 Week 3, Dec 2, 2013

So, all the reports about Canada having a lot of snow? It's a lie. At least where I am it is. It's the beginning of December, and there is still only snow in the mountains. It is slowly creeping down to where I am, and hopefully it will get here before Christmas, but at this rate, you never know. :)
It's been an interesting week, and I'm not sure what my opinion on it is yet. We were able to have some really good lessons (even though there weren't a ton) and we have three really solid people that we are working with. Unfortunately, as of last night, none of them have a baptismal date.
It's very interesting to me, that it is usually only when we experience major trials that we are open to changing and listen to what God has in store for us. The three solid people that we are working with all are experiencing some major trials right now. Two of the three are going in for some major surgeries in the next week or two, and the other one is in the middle of a nasty divorce from an abusive man who already has a new family. But all three of them are loving what they are learning. It's just coming to church that is creating a problem. Various situations prevented T and R from coming yesterday, and now we have to work with that. But they are super solid. I have no doubt that they will get baptized eventually, it has now just become a question of when.
I am so grateful for having grown up in the gospel. I have seen so many people who just seem to be depressed lately. And then there are also so many people who are stressed out and worried about Christmas. They are so busy they don't have the time to stop and enjoy the family time and the beautiful lights and everything else. They are too busy running around. It really makes a difference to be able to stop and enjoy what is around you and the time that you have. Lately, in an attempt to get people to open up more, Sister Byam and I have been complimenting people on their Christmas decorations. People seem almost shocked that we notice and that we are commenting on it. And lately, people have been asking us quite a bit about why we are out on such a cold day or a dark night or when it is so wet. They just don't understand! This is the most important thing that they will ever hear!
So, now that I said at the beginning of the email that there was no snow, there is a ton of snow out there! It finally looks like Christmas! Don't worry, I'm the driver, and I will be careful!
Love you!
Sister Peterson
