Westbank Transfer 6, Week 1, Nov 18, 2013

So, I'm not in Kamloops anymore. I am now in Westbank, also known as West Kelowna. It is very pretty, and it looks very similar to Kamloops, except for the big huge Okanagen Lake that separates West Kelowna from Kelowna. Also, my new companion is Sister Byam, from Alberta. Here's the crazy thing. Sister Byam also has a brother, Elder Byam, serving a mission right now. And he is serving in the Portland Oregon mission. Small world. President Tilleman thought it was one of the funniest things ever, because even though both Sister Byam and I had previously told him that our brothers were in the Portland Oregon mission, he never really connected the two. He said that he is going to phone President Morby, who is the mission president and one of President Tilleman's good friends, and tell him about it. So who knows? Elder Peterson may end up with Elder Byam. Wouldn't that be funny?
Anyway, most of the week was taken up with packing and traveling to and from Richmond. Packing wasn't nearly as stressful this time, nor did it take as long. I didn't have as long to spread out this time.
We are finally starting to see a little bit of snow. Yesterday morning, when we woke up, there was a light dusting on the ground. Of course, when we drove through the mountains there was a lot of snow. It was so bad on Friday, when we going from Richmond to Kelowna, that the Greyhound got to Kelowna two hours later than scheduled. It was nuts. Very pretty though. Sister Waata, who is from Australia, was entranced with the snow. The first time she had seen snow was in the MTC, and there was only a itty bitty bit then. So this was the first real decent amount of snow that she had seen, and she was going nuts. It was really funny.
Also, the work in Westbank needs your prayers. We are teaching one investigator right now who really needs to be baptized soon. She has a surgery on December 15th, and it's bad enough that the doctors have already started making funeral arrangements, and telling her about them. She is scared stiff to die. And she hasn't been to church yet, and there are barely enough Sundays left before her surgery. Both Sister Byam and I feel that she really needs to get baptized before her surgery. So prayers for R would be greatly appreciated. She is really going to need it.
Anyway, I love you all! Hope everything is going amazing at home.
Love,
Sister Peterson
