Kamloops Transfer 5 Week 4 Oct 28, 2013

N got baptized on Saturday and was confirmed yesterday! Probably the highlight of my week (obviously). But also, all last week, it was so gloomy! I felt like I was literally living in the clouds, because there was constant low hanging clouds. We could never ever see the sky, and it never got really bright at all. You couldn't even see the tops of the mountains. Actually, you couldn't even see half way up them. It was really depressing. Like, I couldn't smile at times, because I just had no energy. But on Sunday, when we went outside, the clouds had lifted! The sky wasn't completely clear, in fact it was still mostly cloudy. But the clouds were up in the sky where they belonged. And then this morning when we woke, the sky was completely clear. No clouds in sight, anywhere. It was so beautiful! Definitely a miracle. Sister Foley kept laughing at me because I was so excited to see the sun and the stars that night. But, you know, when you haven't seen them for a week, it gets super exciting. I am a little kid sometimes, but I'm not sure that I care. It makes me happy, and that is what matters to me right now.
Also, serious miracles right now. After N's baptism, we went tracting, and I was just feeling very blah. Very very blah. I just couldn't do it. So we left the area we were in and went to a little complex in Dallas. We walked in and this lady was standing on her porch, and we started talking to her about how much God loves us and is willing to help us in our trials, and she said we could come back tonight. So, she became a new investigator. Then we kept going, knocking on the doors that had lights on, because it was super dark. It gets dark here at around 6:00-6:30. It's a little ridiculous. And people seem to go to bed as soon as it gets dark. It's a little ridiculous. We had an investigator the other sisters found for us tell us that we had just woken her up (this was at 6:30 pm) and we should try earlier in the evening. So we asked her what time she went to bed, so we would come at a good time. She said she goes to bed at 8-8:30 every night. Not really sure how that works, because I asked her if she did that every night, and she maintained that she did, even though she said she had been asleep at 6:30. Not really sure what to make of that. Anyway, back to Saturday. We kept knocking on doors with lights. On the 4th door we knocked on, Aa opened the door and we started talking about God's love (it's a common theme that most people can talk about, and it relates beautifully to the Restoration) and how that has blessed her life. She is Catholic and she has such a positive outlook on life. She said that every morning, she wakes up and lists 10 things she is grateful for to start her day off! And from the little bit we learned about her, she has had a lot of trials in her life, but she just looks for the good and positive. It's amazing. Anyway, we started talking about how God has given us a prophet to guide us and this is one of the ways that He has shown His love. She asked who the prophet was and how she could learn more about him. So we taught her about the Restoration on her doorstep and then she invited us in! That has never happened to me (at least not when they were interested. A couple of old ladies have invited me in, but one wasn't interested, and the other one wasn't comprehending anything we said. She kept telling us there was pop in the fridge that wanted us to drink him. It was really interesting.) and it was so exciting! We are going back to see her again tonight as well. 5 homes, 4 people, 2 new investigators! It was so cool.
Anyway, this week was hard, but so worth it. I would do it again anytime. But maybe with a little more sunshine :)
Love you all!
Sister Peterson
